Thanks to Demolition Man, a regular reader and sometime commentor at IMS, for creating and uploading this video of FOX News 9 anchor Tim Blotz telling soccer fans to stop contacting the FOX 9 studio requesting that the storm coverage stop preempting the UEFA Champions League game.
Blotz evidently became very upset when soccer supporters felt that the station could at the least go to a larger screen of the game and a smaller image of the weather coverage.
“We’re going to continue our weather coverage, ALRIGHT?!?!” says a clearly agitated Blotz in the video, who seems to talk down to his audience. ”So I’m going to end the debate – right – there!”
“Don’t call us, don’t write to us on Facebook and don’t cheese us off. Because you know what? We’re sticking with this no matter what you say. We’re going to continue to keep our viewers safe.”
As reported here earlier today, WCCO TV carried a golf tournament during that same time period and gave their viewers updates with a scrolling ticker across the bottom of the screen.
Blotz stuck by his word and the weather coverage preempted the whole second half of the Twin Cities broadcast of the game.
