Minnesota teams in SC del Sol President’s Day tournament in Phoenix, Arizona

Some Minnesota teams had good success at the SC del Sol President’s Day tournament in Phoenix,
AZ.

MTA U17 boys Elite Blue team coached by Greg Holker made it through some very tough competition wining their group in the tournament. Another MN team, Arsenal Super Eagles U17 won their group as well. That team was coached by Ryan McKellips and Pepe Jon Chavez. Holker reported that both teams lost in the quarter-finals. He said that it was very tough competition and a lot of games in too few days.

The MTA U-16 boys team coached by Jorge De Los Rios, also lost in the quarter-final after winning their group.

Correction 02/19/09 [Danny Storlein was the coach of this team, not Eric Singer as I had mentioned. Eric Singer left a comment concerning this and the difficulty of the group, according to Storlein.]

On the girls side, MTA U-19 Blue, coached by Danny Storlein, beat MSC United Blue Arizona, 1-0 for the women’s championship match.

Woodbury and St. Paul Blackhawks also participated in the tournament. Congratulations to all the MN teams participating.
