Zlatan’s Quality Shines Through Once Again

The general consensus is that you need to be a young gun in order to make a significant impact in a brand new league, and we can sort of understand the logic behind that. However, it doesn’t always prove to be the only way in which you can do well in a new league – with the proof being in the pudding over in Major League Soccer.

We are, of course, referring to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea, and when you really think about it, that isn’t all too hard to understand. He acts like a professional wrestling bad guy 90% of the time, and while some people find it to be charming and fun, that isn’t always the case.

Tread lightly

Having that kind of persona can easily rub people the wrong way if you aren’t careful, and the former Barcelona star has done that quite a few times throughout the course of his career.

Since arriving in the MLS he has been able to light the league on fire, despite being in the last few years of his career. He has the kind of quality that doesn’t go out of fashion, and he has been defying all forms of logic as a consistent, high level forward in what is quickly becoming a really progressive and forward thinking league.

Recently the man that many idolise was put to the side courtesy of a suspension, and to be honest, it was a suspension that was a long time coming. He needed a bit of a reality check to the point where he was brought back down to Earth, and there aren’t all too many better ways for that to happen than with a suspension.

Unstoppable? We think so

As a result some fans were questioning whether or not he would return as the same man, but as we’ve seen, the striker was able to answer those calls with an emphatic yes. As reported by Goal and Yahoo Sport, Zlatan served up a goal and an assist for LA Galaxy in their recent win over Sporting Kansas City. The win means they are still in second place in the Western Conference, and while they may be six points back from local rivals LAFC, this is a marathon not a sprint. They’ve got time to peg them back, and let’s not forget how clutch Zlatan could be in the play-offs if they get that far.

Zlatan is the type of player you hate to play against but would love to have playing for your team, and all of his quirks come with that reputation too. He isn’t always talked about as one of the greats in his generation but he most certainly should be, with this latest chapter of his career confirming that.

As the rest of the season continues, we’re really excited to see just how capable he is when it comes to keeping this ball rolling. After all, momentum is huge in a league like the MLS.
