LAFC’s Bounce-back-ability Should Be Applauded

In the modern age of American soccer, it goes without saying that the MLS is the premier form of entertainment. Beyond that, though, the fluctuation of the teams at the top doesn’t really compare to the likes of the NFL, NBA, NHL and so on. By that, we mean teams seem to stay a little more consistent over the course of a few years than the other ‘big four’ leagues.

As reported by MLS Soccer, there’s one team that is looking to prove that wrong by rising up from absolutely nowhere to seize control in their conference: and that is Los Angeles FC. It’s no secret that they hit a little bit of a speed bump in the form of their narrow loss to Vancouver, with many fans and pundits questioning whether or not they’d start to slowly drop down the table.

Overcoming obstacles

As it turns out (as seen in the above report), they need not have worried.

LAFC absolutely tore through the Seattle Sounders in their latest game with ruthless efficiency, scoring four goals and only conceding one in the process. They looked every bit like the team we’ve all come to know throughout the early portion of the campaign, and in doing so, they showcased one of the most important traits a team can have: bounce-back-ability.

It sounds unusual and in some ways it doesn’t even sound like a real thing, but trust us, it is. The way in which a team handles a defeat could completely alter the trajectory of their season, and at the same time, it can showcase the mental toughness they possess. A lot of sides have the tendency to crumble at the slightest sign of pressure, but what LAFC have proven is that they’re here to stay at the top of the food chain.

As reported by ESPN, Los Angeles are still sitting pretty in the power rankings – and while that doesn’t actually really matter, the overall standings suggest that they’re doing something right.

Make the most of your opportunity

They have a mixture of experience and fresh faces which is always a nice balance in the MLS, and as the weeks go on, we’re interested to see how this squad continues to develop. They’re bound to get a few haters along the way who are jealous of their instant ability to gel as a unit, but as long as they push those doubters to one side, they’ll be fine.

Their upcoming schedule should make for quite a few competitive games, so this time next month, we should get a pretty solid idea of where this season is going for LAFC. Of course, it seems like we’ve already got a pretty good idea of things, but you never can truly be sure until we’ve seen the proof in the pudding. We’ve recently seen the news come out about future expansion teams who are being given a chance to prove themselves as MLS franchises, and if they need proof of where it can take you, then they should look no further than this squad.
