Former Nottingham Forest Youngster Living High Life In MLS

It’s never easy being a young footballer these days, contrary to what the allure of fame and fortune may suggest. Sure, you get lots of rewards at an incredibly young age, but that doesn’t necessarily serve as the making of you. What makes you is your ability to overcome the pressures associated with that, and in some aspects, the home comforts.

Case in point: Mo Adams began his career as many other young players do: with his hometown club. Nottingham Forest, and then Derby County, were proving grounds for him in his efforts to build some momentum and forge a path to greatness. Alas, as it turns out, his journey was destined to take him over the pond.

The cream rises to the top

Adams committed himself to Syracuse University back in 2016, and from that point on he was able to showcase his skill and overwhelming talent on a week to week basis. He had strong spells for both Syracuse Orange and Reading United, before being thrust into the drama and intrigue of the MLS SuperDraft.

As confirmed by MLS Soccer, he was selected 10^th overall by Chicago Fire – a team that many consider to be one of the best in the United States to this day. A few injuries here and there ensured a stumbling start to life in the big time, but as Mo has done so many times already in his life, he overcame it.

Despite only being 22 years of age, Mo already seems to be showcasing the kind of maturity and influence that you’d expect from a 15-year veteran. He’s the latest in a long line of English stars that have been able to generate this kind of success, and it seems as if he’s only just getting started.

The common thought process for many would be that he is planning on building a legacy for himself in the MLS, and to be honest, that’s probably the route he should go down for at least a few years. However, as reported by Nottingham Post, he can’t help but be tempted by a possible future return to his homeland.

“Most definitely, it’s a goal of mine. I’ve always dreamed of going back home to England to play football so I think if the opportunity came one day, I would definitely consider it.”

The prodigal son

When you really think about what this young man is saying, and with how much confidence he’s saying it with, why wouldn’t we encourage him to follow his dreams? You can tell that he wholeheartedly wants to give his all to the city of Chicago, but in equal measure, Nottingham is also still in his heart too.

Football is an odd game at times and it can take you in directions that you previously didn’t think possible, and that’s okay. Adams seems to be intent on taking one game at a time with the Fire and that’s the best way to be – but, at the same time, he has the maturity and pride within himself to know what he wants from the future.

Can he become an all-time great? Only time will tell.
