2019 MLS Cup Playoffs Bracket Officially Confirmed

Decision Day is officially in the books and we now know what we can expect to see when it comes to the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs. We’ve all been waiting to get the confirmation as to which 14 teams will be taking part in the festivities, and now, it’s finally here.

The straight-shooting nature of the playoffs is going to make for some intense and entertaining viewing over the course of the next few weeks and we can’t wait to see it. As seen on Wikipedia and MLS Soccer, the bracket itself has thrown up a few potentially earth-shattering showdowns, and that’s exactly what we wanted to see.

As a result of their phenomenal performances throughout the regular season, New York City FC and Los Angeles FC, who many fans believe will meet in the final, have earned themselves a first round bye.

Toronto vs DC United

After finishing on equal points it really is anyone’s guess as to who gets the job done here. Purely based on the ‘who wants it more’ theory, we think DC are going to edge themselves over the finish line.

Atlanta vs New England

Atlanta, in the post-season, are about as ruthless as it gets – and that is why we believe they will run through New England here. It isn’t going to be pretty, as ATL continues to try and repeat as champs.

Philadelphia vs NY Red Bulls

The result of this game depends entirely on what version of the Philadelphia Union we get, because they’re known for dropping the ball when it matters the most. With that in mind, we’re positioning ourselves as backers of the Red Bulls to reach the next round.

Minnesota vs LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy will not miss the opportunity to set up a Conference Semifinal date with bitter rivals LAFC and it really is that simple. Minnesota will give as good as they’ve got but when push comes to shove, Los Angeles will edge their way into the next round.

Seattle vs Dallas

We don’t believe in betting against Seattle in playoff football all too often, and that will continue to be the case here. We think they’ll take this one fairly comprehensively.

Real Salt Lake vs Portland

Salt Lake have had a fun surge towards the end of the season, but we just feel like Portland have a bit more grit and determination about them which will lead to a fun game that ends in the Timbers progressing.

All in all, we’re struggling to contain our excitement for the upcoming playoffs. There are so many teams that could make a fun run deep into the final, and while some would argue that’s always the case, there are always bound to be a few speed bumps along the way.

In this instance, we’re just going to sit back and enjoy the ride and what lies ahead. The unpredictable nature of the playoffs has taken us this far, and we’re excited for the next step.

If your team is involved, good luck. If not, enjoy the show!
