Will Zidane Find Success Again This Season?

One of the main storylines throughout the core of the summer transfer window has been what the future of Gareth Bale will be in regards to his time at Real Madrid. It’s no secret that he has been seemingly destined to leave the club for longer than we can remember, because despite everything he’s done for the club over the years, they don’t seem to treat him with much respect.

One of the primary factors behind that is manager Zinedine Zidane, who doesn’t appear to be taking any prisoners in his second stint as manager. When the Frenchman came back through the doors of the club a few months back, it really did seem and feel like it was going to be business as usual. Now, though, we aren’t so sure

The uncertainty

As reported by BBC, the main man seems to be more than a little bit annoyed about the growing injury list that they’re having to deal with.

“I don’t think about who is going to replace Marco,” said Zidane.

“We are devastated with Marco’s injury and we are preparing the players who are here, then we will return to Madrid.”

He’s referring to the injury suffered by Marco Asensio, to go alongside the seemingly long term injuries sustained by Ferland Mendy and Brahim Diaz. In terms of the strength of their squad it still feels like they’re going to be capable of some big things next season, but is it going to be quite as easy as a lot of folks are making it out to be? The answer, surely, has to be no.

Plus, as reported by Sport, there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding what is happening with Neymar. It seems likely that the Brazilian is going to be heading away from Paris Saint-Germain at some point during the next few weeks, but his end destination isn’t quite so certain.

If he goes to Real, then that’d be a huge sign of intent as they move forward with their aim to claim Spanish and European supremacy. If he goes to Barcelona, then they’re only going to strengthen their grip on the La Liga title.

Not so easy?

At the minimum, you’d imagine Zidane needs at least two trophies in order to satisfy the fans. Even then, some will be claiming that they need to win the whole treble – especially when you consider the amount of hype surrounding his return to the club.

Are we going to completely write them off? No, because that seems like it’d be a pretty foolish thing to do. Even with that being the case, though, there are reasons to be slightly trepidatious if you’re a Real fan.

The players are there, but actually performing is what is going to get the job done – which is hardly a startling revelation.

Zidane still seems pretty confident, but we’ve got to wait and see how things transpire in the first few weeks before we know what direction this is going to go in.
