There are many top players around world football that often create a great sense of intrigue, but there are only a few that fans will quite literally obsess over until they’ve got an answer regarding their future one way or the other. One such example of that is Gareth Bale who, as reported by talkSPORT and The Guardian, is being pulled in a million different directions already during the current summer transfer window.
When the Welshman left Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid all those years ago, it felt like he was destined to become one of the biggest stars in world football. The nature of the transfer fee that came with his signature kind of demanded that anyway, but in addition to the money, he was just a really good footballer that deserved the chance to shine bright on the biggest stage imaginable.
Where will he go?
After turning 30 years of age yesterday, it’s interesting to sit back and wonder whether or not he’s still at the same level he once was. From an ability standpoint we’d absolutely say yes, but beyond that, it feels like there’s a mental element of his game that has been missing for a while now.
In order to recapture that magic, we honestly believe that leaving Real Madrid is going to be the right step forward for him. He has been treated with a great level of disrespect by not only the club’s fans, but also by the returning Zinedine Zidane. He has often made it clear that he doesn’t want Bale to feature in his plans, to the point where many media members have wondered why Gareth hasn’t already left.
In terms of where he’s going to go, it really does seem as if the Premier League is the place for him to be. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are the two sides that seem to be leading the race at this moment in time, and we really do believe both would be great destinations for Bale.
Old Trafford has been calling his name for a few years now, and while it may seem like this isn’t the best time to join the club, there’s still a great deal of potential when it comes to what they could accomplish in the not so distant future.
Making moves
Alas, even with that being the case, a return to Spurs feels like the kind of fairytale that could keep Tottenham in the conversation for a place in the title hunt. There are several figures that have been thrown around, but truth be told, we aren’t going to believe anything until it has been officially announced.
Bale is still one of the best players in world football, he understands the system at Spurs, he was one of their best players of the last 10-15 years, and he clearly still loves the club.
This could light a fire under him that we haven’t seen since the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final, and that, in itself, is an incredibly exciting prospect.
