When Is The Prime Time To Start Buying & Selling?

The transfer window, and particularly the summer transfer window, is one of the most exciting times of the year to be a football fan – if you enjoy hanging on every word that the media pumps out, that is. You just never know what rumour or last minute deal is coming around the next corner, and for some reason, a lot of folks tend to thrive off of that feeling. It’s a bit weird, but you know, that’s the way it goes.

One query that we’ve always had in regards to this is this: when is the right time to start buying and selling? The transfer window has officially opened, but as you can imagine, a lot of teams are still waiting for the European and domestic seasons to officially come to an end before they get to work. That’s understandable, but in addition to that, you’ve got some deals that have already been completed, but aren’t going to be announced formally until July 1^st. Bit weird.

The pros and the cons

As reported by BBC, you’ve got one team that is on the ‘let’s get everything done as quickly as possible’ train: and that team is Borussia Dortmund. The German giants have reacted pretty impressively to losing the Bundesliga title race to Bayern Munich, by going out and acquiring some seriously talented players. Honestly, this is one of the most lethal reactions we’ve seen to the end of the season.

On the other hand, as reported by Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are kind of dragging their feet a little bit when it comes to committing to anything. As we’ve previously mentioned that’s because they’ve got a Champions League final to come, which again makes us wonder why the transfer window doesn’t just wait to open for a little bit longer. The middle of June would probably be a more beneficial time to get things sorted, especially because there’s no World Cup for clubs to worry about and consider this time around.

Figuring it all out

If you haven’t been able to tell yet we have mixed feelings regarding the whole procedure anyway, because in the transfer window, you just never quite know who to believe. One minute you’re convinced that your star player is heading overseas or to a league rival, and then the next, they sign a four your deal to keep themselves on the books.

We still think fans should get excited about what’s to come in the transfer window in case anything comes up on the horizon, but just take everything with a pinch of salt. If it was up to us we’d make our move as quickly as possible, in the same kind of way that Borussia Dortmund have done. In terms of our example it’s probably fairer to use someone like Real Madrid as opposed to Liverpool, because Real have been hinting at making moves in every which way for months now – and nothing has happened. Is that because things aren’t quite as simple as they seem?
