Neymar Remains At Paris Saint-Germain As Window Closes

Deadline day has passed in all major European countries now, which means we’ve got a pretty good idea of how things are going to pan out in terms of what squads and teams have been put together. Over the course of the summer transfer window we’ve heard about and seen a series of different ‘potential’ moves that may or may not go through, and while a lot of them did, there were a few that slipped through the cracks and didn’t quite make it.

One such example is the potential transfer of Brazilian sensation Neymar. As reported by Sky Sports and The Guardian it didn’t quite go through, meaning that Paris Saint-Germain fans can enjoy at least a few more months with the controversial forward being in the starting XI.

No final push

The idea that he could remain at PSG was always a distinct possibility and there’s no point in dancing around that. It takes a long time to push a deal of this magnitude through until the end, and in this instance, they just seemed to run out of time with negotiations not quite working out how many had hoped and anticipated.

In reality we had two primary clubs interested in signing him: Barcelona and Real Madrid. Both would mark a return to Spanish football for Neymar, but let’s face it, they’d be incredibly different deals in their own right.

If he did return to Barcelona then it’d probably be the easy option, because while he may not have caused too much joy with his departure, they’d certainly jump at the chance of having his kind of quality back in front of goal alongside the likes of Messi and Griezmann. Just think about the kind of danger that they could inflict.

However, Barca just don’t seem to have been able to provide PSG with the kind of offer they were looking for. Given that they’re supposedly really invested in the idea of bringing him back, that surprises us a little bit.

Predicting what many consider to be the unpredictable

Then you’ve got Real Madrid and while they may be one of the greatest teams in the history of world football, we still think this is a risk. Why? Because it’s him stepping into the unknown.

He probably doesn’t care all too much about that side of things, because come on now, we’re talking about a man who has never been afraid to make a move that is good for him and nobody else.

The next step of his journey is undetermined because, well, Real didn’t seem to be all too invested in the idea of bringing him in – but perhaps that will change once we get around to the January transfer window.

If we end up seeing the same kind of issues, then god only knows what kind of future there is going to be for Neymar in this crazy game – because his days in the French capital most certainly seem numbered, and they have done for quite some time.
