In the modern era it’s to be expected that there is an abundance of world class stars just waiting to be discovered – especially within the ranks of the youth. So many top names are only in their teenage years or early twenties, and are just waiting for the chance to break out into the mainstream. One such example, of course, is Luka Jovic.
The man is an absolute unit in more ways than one, and is quite easily one of the most exciting prospects we’ve had the pleasure of watching in quite some time. Throughout the course of the entire season there’s been a great deal of excitement regarding who may end up acquiring his services, and whilst some felt he’d stay put at Frankfurt, the general consensus was that he was just too good to not move up to that next level.
Bernabeu bound
As reported by Sky Sports, it turns out that the club which has won the ‘war’ of sorts is Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are set to complete a deal believed to be worth around £52.4 million for the Serbian which, in today’s market, is kind of a bargain. We almost can’t believe those words are coming out of our mouth, but it’s true. This kid has star potential written all over him, and possesses the kind of talent and skill that transcends divisions and leagues.
According to this report from Yahoo Sport, it also seems like he may have made the correct choice in terms of the club he’s heading to. It has been confirmed that Real Madrid has overtaken Manchester United as the most valuable club in world football, which is based on a series of different facts and statistics. Of course, this wouldn’t have been the only reason as to why Jovic made the decision to go to the Bernabeu, but you’d have to imagine the stature of the club factored into it at least a little.
The intriguing thing with this deal is going to be seeing how he settles in within the first few months. In the past we’ve seen foreign strikers really struggle upon coming over to Real, whether it be due to the pressure, the level of competition or something else. Jovic is young but he has an experienced head on his shoulders, so we don’t think he’ll crumble under the pressure as so many have done before him.
Rise of the Serb
Zinedine Zidane is still undoubtedly making a big leap of faith with this deal, though, because how could he not be? He isn’t the typical kind of player you’d associate with playing for Real, especially not when the Frenchman has been so insistent on trying to re-build for another run at Champions League & La Liga glory next year.
Jovic has a lot of work to do in order to pay Real back for the fee that they’ve put forward for him, but as we stated earlier, we truly believe it’s going to wind up being a bargain price for them. This kid has his head screwed on, he has his eyes on the prize, and he’s ready to make an impact.
