We’ve all sat back and thought about what it would be like to be playing at the highest level in world football, but 99.9% of us will never know what it feels like to ascend to those types of heights. Of course, there are teenagers out there that will already have more money in their bank account than we will earn throughout the course of our entire lifetimes, and we’re here to talk about one such example here today.
As reported by BBC and The Express, Borussia Dortmund youngster Jadon Sancho has signed a brand new contract with the German giants. The England international had previously been linked with a series of clubs, including Manchester United, but he has decided to remain dedicated to the Bundesliga for the time being.
At the age of just 19, this kid already has a brighter future than most in the game at the world football level – and he’s only just getting started. Last season he was able to shine as one of the leading men for Dortmund, almost guiding them to the title in the process.
While Bayern Munich were able to get across the finish line first and claim the championship, Sancho’s determination alongside many of his teammates provided the masses with renewed hope that they could push hard again this time around.
It’s certainly going to be tricky but they’ve got more than enough quality within their ranks to challenge for it, and Jadon is situated at the heart of all that. Just a few short years ago very few people would’ve even known who he was, but now, he is the name on everyone’s lips.
Sancho is widely considered to be one of England’s most exciting young talents, too, and he’s been able to prove why ever since making his international debut. It seems like only a matter of time before he decides to return home and compete in the Premier League, but right now, it doesn’t feel like a necessity.
More players from English football should give themselves the chance to learn how to grow as a player outside of their comfort zone because you just never know what tools you could come away with. Sancho is the living, breathing proof of that, as the English game slowly but surely attempts to catch up to the rest of Europe.
The £190,000-per-week contract that Sancho has signed will ensure he earns upwards of £2.5 million on a year to year basis, with his previous deal running all the way through until 2022.
If he is able to keep growing and progressing over the course of the next nine months, then there’s a very good chance that all of the big boys will be sniffing around in an attempt to acquire his services.
He seems fairly committed to the cause at Dortmund for the upcoming season, but if a major offer comes in, it’ll understandably be pretty difficult for him to turn down such a golden opportunity – regardless of his age.
