Barcelona & Real Madrid Battle For Neymar

While the summer transfer window in England may have been and gone, that doesn’t mean the rest of Europe has to stop their attempts to try and bring in new players (or sell them on).

The window is still open across a series of different countries and leagues for a few more days yet, which should lead to a pretty intriguing conclusion to the window. The biggest story right now by a country mile, as reported by ESPN and the Mirror, is the future of Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.

At this point in proceedings it truly does seem as if there are three options remaining for the controversial Brazilian forward: stay at PSG, go to Real Madrid or go to Barcelona. When you consider the stature of all three clubs in question, that doesn’t exactly seem like the worst dilemma in the world.

Eye on the prize

If he stays in the French capital, then the relationship needs to be fixed in some way, shape or form. While it doesn’t appear as if the bridge between the two parties has been permanently burned, there’s definitely a divide between what the club wants and what Neymar himself wants, with the player making it pretty obvious that he wants to find a new club before the end of the transfer window.

We understand that he may not be all too eager to remain at PSG, but if that’s what he is left with, he’s still being paid an awful lot of money to continue being one of the highest paid players in world football.

That will, of course, also be true if he heads to Spain. The move back to Barcelona has been heavily debated and considered from all sides, and while it seems like that deal may have hit a brick wall at this moment in time, reports suggest that they are prepared to put forward one final bid in an attempt to get the deal over the finish line.

Making history?

Alternatively,  Neymar could join the ranks of many world class legends before him by joining Barca’s rivals Real Madrid, becoming one of the few stars to have played for both. It seems like this is the most likely deal right now, and if it comes to fruition, you have to wonder what it’s going to mean for Real Madrid in the upcoming campaign.

They’ve got more star players than we can even begin to list, and Neymar would serve as a massive addition to that hierarchy. If they didn’t go on to win one of La Liga or the Champions League, it would be a failure as notable as Zinedine Zidane’s first three UCL wins before this.

There’s a long way to go before this thing comes to any kind of legitimate conclusion, and when we say a long way, we mean a few days: but it is going to feel like an eternity for fans of these three teams.

One way or another, Neymar is going to be making some more headlines.
