The Future Is Unknown For Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are coming off the back of potentially their craziest season ever, and as we look ahead, we wouldn’t be all too surprised if the upcoming season lived up to the same kind of hype – but, to be perfectly honest, we can’t say for sure one way or another whether that’s going to be a positive thing.

As reported by The Independent and The Guardian, there are so many question marks surrounding this club right now that it’s kind of hard to keep track and we aren’t just saying that for the sake of it. One of the big questions is what kind of squad they’re going to have once the summer transfer window closes in Europe, with Christian Eriksen being heavily linked with a move away from the club.

The only way is where, exactly?

We all know that one player does not make a team successful, but he’s the kind of star that would leave a noticeable hole if he did decide to move on.

Then, when you look at the first few performances of the campaign for Spurs, it’s obvious to see that there’s something missing. The win against Aston Villa was less than inspiring, the draw against Manchester City gave fans false hope that they could do something special this season, and the Newcastle loss was as bad as it gets.

This is such a massive far cry from the team that was able to reach the Champions League Final just a few months ago: or, at least, that’s what they want you to think.

Something that a lot of supporters seem to forget is that their squad was being held together with tape throughout most of the second half of the season, and even that is being a little bit kind.

It feels as if there’s an imminent explosion or collapse coming, and when we say it’s coming, we really don’t think we’re all too far away from seeing it.

Mauricio Pochettino has had his fair share of struggles, too, making it known to the world that he didn’t feel as if he was entirely in control of the club’s transfer dealings.

Lacking confidence

We aren’t so sure how much of that we should be believing, but the simple fact of the matter is that there seems to be a core ingredient of this Spurs squad missing.

When they go head to head with Arsenal this upcoming weekend, they need to make 100% sure that they are on the ball – because if they lose, that could have massive repercussions for the team moving forward.

It would mark three straight Premier League games without a win, and that’s even before the cup and European schedule starts to come into effect.

Spurs have their backs against the wall and if they want to find a way in which to fight out of it, they’ll have to start thinking outside of the box.

For now, the questions will persist and so they should, because nobody really knows which way to turn.
