The Premier League returns once again this weekend for another stacked series of fixtures in England’s top flight. We’re just about making our way through the halfway point of the campaign but based on the state of the table, we’d say that nothing is even close to being decided – as it should be.
Today, we’re going to take a look at five games you should all be watching out for over the next few days.
Chelsea vs Fulham
In an almost-immediate repeat of their derby game from a few weeks ago, Chelsea will attempt to right a few wrongs. They have the players thanks to the transfer window but now, they need to find some genuine team cohesion to save their season.
Fulham, meanwhile, have had a few slip-ups since beating the Blues, but they’re still in a tremendous position. If they can get another positive result here then they’ll surely continue to be favoured for a finish in the top half of the table.
Everton vs Arsenal
Everton fans have somewhat got their wish. The board may still be in place, but Frank Lampard is no longer the manager at Goodison Park. That might not be enough for some but at the very least, it gives them a fighting chance at surviving in the top flight this season.
Arsenal are still riding an unbelievable wave of momentum at the top of the Premier League table. They look comfortable and assured of themselves, with Mikel Arteta’s task being for them to hold steady in the face of adversity in the months ahead.
Wolves vs Liverpool
Wolverhampton Wanderers are slowly but surely finding their feet under Julen Lopetegui. There’s still a lot of work to be done if they want to avoid the drop, but at the very least, they are moving in the right direction – and they have a score to settle with the Reds.
Liverpool are enduring their worst campaign in a long time but if anyone is going to help them recover, it’s going to be Jurgen Klopp. They have the facilities necessary to overcome their injury setbacks, which is one of the primary reasons why some fans still aren’t concerned.
Nottingham Forest vs Leeds
Nottingham Forest’s faithful supporters have refused to give up on their team even in difficult times, which is one of the reasons why they’ve been able to bounce back. Now, Steve Cooper has a side that is genuinely fighting tooth and nail for the club.
Leeds, meanwhile, are still trying to find their mark with Jesse Marsch at the helm. They have certainly improved substantially from where they were earlier on in the season, but this is a long season, and there are many things that could go wrong.
Tottenham vs Manchester City
Tottenham Hotspur almost pulled the wool over the eyes of City just a few weeks ago. Instead, they surrendered a two-goal lead and went on to lose – but after a few bounce-back victories, they’ll hope they can spring a real upset in North London.
Manchester City are hoping to rediscover their identity and put more pressure on Arsenal at the top of the pile. Spurs aren’t exactly going to roll over, but Gunners fans won’t be hopeful that their neighbours will do them much of a favour.
