Five Premier League Clubs Who Impressed Last Weekend

It was another weekend of electric Premier League action for fans to enjoy in the last few days and while there may be another slate of fixtures ahead during the week, we thought it’d be nice to stop and appreciate some of the teams who really flourished in their respective games.

With that being said, here are five clubs that managed to impress – regardless of their result.

Liverpool – 4-0 win vs Southampton

Liverpool tore through Southampton like a hot knife through butter and it wasn’t even remotely close. There are a lot of ways to phrase it but in short, they were just the far better team at Anfield.

They’re starting to build up some really nice momentum heading into the winter period and if they’re top of the league by the time we reach 2022, we wouldn’t be at all surprised.

Norwich – 0-0 draw vs Wolves

Dean Smith wanted to bring about change at Carrow Road and so far, he’s living up to the billing. They’ve now gone three games unbeaten and at the weekend, they were thoroughly impressive against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Canaries were the ones who will feel unlucky not to be coming away with all three points because, essentially, they had the best chances.

Aston Villa – 2-1 win vs Crystal Palace

Aston Villa wanted to make a big splash under the guidance of Steven Gerrard and the Liverpudlian has helped them live up to the billing with just a few games gone in his reign in the Midlands.

They won on his debut and when their backs were against the wall against Crystal Palace, they pulled another rabbit out of the hat. It wasn’t the greatest win you’ll ever see, but three points is all that matters at this level.

Manchester City – 2-1 win vs West Ham

The fact that they battled against the elements was one thing, but Manchester City should be really proud of their overall performance against the Hammers. They knew they were facing the toughest test of the weekend and yet, they still dug deep and carved out a win that ultimately proved to be fairly comprehensive.

West Ham will come again as they have done all season long but this was about Pep Guardiola and the adjustments he made to ensure they won the match. There are very few tacticians out there better than the Spaniard and they’re still, in our view, the team to watch in the title race.

Manchester United – 1-1 draw vs Chelsea

Michael Carrick set up a team that went out there to try and frustrate Chelsea. He wanted to see Manchester United get under the skin of the Blues and after they took the lead on the counter, it all appeared to be going exactly to plan.

Sure, they didn’t hold on to their advantage, but a point at Stamford Bridge is still a really, really nice result. Ralf Rangnick is expected to come through the door sooner rather than later, and this is the kind of result he would’ve liked to see to give him some confidence.
