Five Big Results From The Premier League Last Weekend

Another weekend of Premier League action has been and gone with the end of the season drawing ever closer with each and every week. There’s still a whole lot left to be determined between the title race, the top four push and the relegation battle with a parade of clubs still having plenty to fight for.

Today, we’re going to take a look back at some of the results that really stood out to us from the weekend just gone.

Everton 1-0 Man United

Everton needed a big three points more than they’ve needed in a long time and when they were up against it over the weekend, they pulled a huge win over Manchester United out of the bag.

It moves them four clear of Burnley who lost to Norwich whereas United, under the guidance of Ralf Rangnick, are continuing to drift further and further away from the top four race.

Arsenal 1-2 Brighton

Arsenal are beginning to drop like a stone and it actually comes as a surprise this time around. The Gunners looked good after the turn of the year but with three losses in their last four, things are beginning to crumble.

Brighton had the worst form in the top flight heading into this but Graham Potter wasn’t about to let that stop him. Because of the win, they can now re-focus their attention on acquiring a top half finish.

Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham

Aston Villa won’t be dragged into the relegation scrap but they’ve now lost four games on the bounce. When you take a look at the quality residing in their squad, it becomes apparent that this shouldn’t be happening.

Spurs, meanwhile, are on cloud nine. They’re now the favourites to capture a top four berth that would allow them to return to the Champions League, just twelve months after slipping into the Conference League.

Leicester 2-1 Crystal Palace

It may not seem like a big result but Leicester’s victory over Crystal Palace means that if they win their three games in hand over Wolves, they’ve vault above them into eighth – reigniting their top six push in the process.

Palace are still in the top half of the table which speaks volumes about their turnaround under Patrick Vieira, but there’s a chance they could begin to hit a ceiling in the weeks ahead.

Man City 2-2 Liverpool

Manchester City will feel like they’ve missed about a million opportunities to kill off the title race this season and on Sunday, they did so again after slipping to a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at the Etihad.

The Reds fought valiantly and as a result, still sit just one point behind City in the championship battle. Klopp knows how much there is to focus on between now and the end of May but given their form, it’s hard to picture them mishandling it.
