Champions League & Europa League Finals Await

We’re finally at the end of another dramatic domestic season across Europe and while many are already looking ahead to the Euros, there are still two games left to be played that could send ripple effects through the entire continent.

We are, of course, referring to the Champions League and Europa League finals – which will both go down this week. One is seen as being fairly predictable and the other is seemingly up for grabs, but let’s face it, nobody really knows what’s going to happen on nights like this.

The EFL playoffs are going to be just as exciting when it comes to the added drama of it all but right now, we’re focusing on the big boys.

There are going to be fans in the stadium both in Porto and Gdansk and while it may not be full capacity that we’re dealing with, it’s still going to be nice to see that kind of energy for the players to bounce off of.

Everyone wants some form of normality back and this week, four clubs are going to try and write their names in the record books. We may be biased, but we’re not so sure it gets much better than that at this level.

UCL Final – Manchester City vs. Chelsea

Manchester City have finally made it to the top table of European football by reaching their first ever Champions League final. They’ve worked unbelievably hard to get to this point and, moving forward, you’d have to imagine they’re going to work just as hard to stay there.

Chelsea, on the other hand, wouldn’t in their wildest dreams have imagined they’d be back at this point this season. Thomas Tuchel has been able to inspire a real resurgence within this squad and while they may not have won the FA Cup final, they’ll enjoy being the underdogs for this one.

Pep Guardiola has put his heart and soul into getting City that elusive European Cup success and he isn’t going to take his foot off of the pedal now. The Blues are good, but logic dictates City are the favourites and that’s fairly obvious.

UEL Final – Villarreal vs. Manchester United

Villarreal finished below their own expectations in La Liga this season even with Gerard Moreno banging in goals for fun, but in Europe, they’ve finally gotten over their semi-final hump in Europe by qualifying for the Europa League final.

Manchester United have been in this position many times before and they even won this competition just a few short years ago. Alas, even though their many fans want to see them run through the Spaniards with relative ease, we can’t imagine it’s going to be that easy.

Unai Emery is the master of the Europa League with many wins in the competition over the years and we think frustrating United is going to be at the top of their priority list. Ole, though, is incredibly hungry for his first piece of silverware at Old Trafford.
