Another Big Weekend Of Premier League Action Awaits

The Premier League’s train keeps on rolling as we enter the second half of December with a bang. After the enjoyable midweek fixtures that we all got to enjoy, fans will be treated to yet another host of games that have the potential to really blow us away between now and Monday night.

Every single match has some stakes attached to it, but we’re going to pick out a few that stand out in a big way.

Southampton vs Manchester City

Two of the most exciting teams to watch in the top flight will square off this weekend, and it should be noted that both are now being viewed as top four contenders – with some believing City are still capable of making a push for the title.

The Saints are currently in 3rd place with City being down in 9th, and we really don’t think there’s a whole lot that is going to separate them when they eventually lock horns.

Everton vs Arsenal

Everton seemed to be dropping like a stone after a few poor results but now, with wins over Chelsea and Leicester under their belt, they’re starting to walk around with a bit of swagger again.

Carlo Ancelotti knows that a defeat for Mikel Arteta in this game could easily spell the end of his tenure at the Emirates, and while that won’t be their sole motivation, it’d be one hell of a statement to make.

Tottenham vs Leicester

Bouncing back from a big defeat is absolutely essential in the Premier League and that is precisely what Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to do this weekend. They’ll host Leicester City who have had their fair share of losses this season, but as we all know, the Foxes also play a far more exciting brand of football than Spurs.

If Jose Mourinho is serious about Tottenham having a chance at winning the title then they simply cannot afford to lose this.

Manchester United vs Leeds

This is a rivalry that dates back over many decades and it’ll be renewed on the big stage for the first time in a long time. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are riding a nice wave of form, but on the flip side, Marcelo Bielsa’s side proved how dangerous they are by sticking five past Newcastle earlier in the week.

Leeds will want to come and give the Red Devils a bloody nose in their own backyard, and Ole needs to be prepared for a shootout.

Chelsea vs West Ham

Back-to-back losses are rare for Chelsea these days but that is precisely what Frank Lampard has to now deal with after Everton and Wolves beat the Blues in the last few days.

The Hammers, however, are flying higher than they have done in a long time with David Moyes being the one to steer the ship in the right direction. Anything can happen in a London derby but if Chelsea want to avoid going into a tailspin similar to rivals Arsenal, they have to come out swinging.
