2019/20 Premier League Fixture List Released

Ever since the Premier League came to an end, it seems as if the majority of fans have just been waiting for it to start back up again. The top flight of English football is full to the brim with world class talent, and we’re intrigued by what the 2019/20 campaign is going to offer us.

As reported by BBC and The Guardian, we now know a little bit more about how the season is going to go – because the fixture list has been released. Whilst some of these are obviously subject to change, due to cup games and European competition, it certainly allows us to have a look behind the curtain and work out who is going to have a tricky run in (and when).

As opposed to trying to sum it all up, which would be impossible, we’ve decided to run through our thoughts on all ten of the opening weekend’s fixtures. Buckle up, folks, because we’ve got less than two months to go now.

Liverpool vs Norwich City

Norwich are going to be really up for this one in their return to the big stage, but let’s be honest with ourselves here, Liverpool are the Champions of Europe and there’s no way they’re going to allow themselves to slip up this early on.

West Ham vs Manchester City

This is actually a tricky looking fixture for City – but only if West Ham strengthen like many are expecting them to in the summer transfer window.

Bournemouth vs Sheffield United

The Blades will consider this to be an incredibly winnable fixture on their Premier League return, whereas the Cherries need to prove that they’re capable of pushing up the table towards the top half again.

Burnley vs Southampton

Both sides will do well to avoid the relegation battle again this season, and that’s just a fact. In terms of fixtures like this one, it’ll kind of give us an idea of where their trajectory will take them in the next year or so.

Crystal Palace vs Everton

Everton have high expectations and so do Palace, but given the Eagles’ poor home form at Selhurst Park as of late, we’d be surprised if the Toffees don’t walk away with all three points.

Leicester vs Wolves

Leicester were able to control and neutralise Wolves in the early stages of last season, but it feels like this is a different Wanderers side now. They’ll be in Europa League action a few weeks before this, and it’ll be intriguing to see whether that impacts them.

Watford vs Brighton

Watford will be dying to prove that last season wasn’t a one off, whereas Brighton recognise that they came within a few inches of dropping back down into the Championship.

Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Tough is the best way to describe this game: and we don’t mean for Villa. The pressure is off of their shoulders in their Premier League return, whereas this could easily be an easy banana peel of a game for the Champions League finalists.

Newcastle vs Arsenal

The way in which this game goes, in our mind, will depend entirely on whether or not Newcastle’s takeover gets confirmed. Arsenal, more than likely, should be getting the job done here.

Manchester United vs Chelsea

Both sides are in a tricky spot right now and there’s no way of getting around it, but United are the ones who will be feeling the pressure – even more so than the Blues.
