ClapAs the 2010 comes to a close I’ve been trying to work on a number 
of year-end articles. In reviewing all the posts made at IMS in 2010, and there’s been a lot of them, this piece I wrote immediately after the U.S. v Algeria game has to be my favorite.
I’m know everyone remembers Landon Donovan’s game-winning goal against Algeria in the dying moments of the match that put us through to the round of 16 atop our group in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Really, how can you forget a moment like that? The outpouring of emotion from U.S. National Team supporters across the country was something I’ve never seen in my 35 years of involvement with the game. It seems to have been a landmark moment in the history of U.S. Soccer. I was personally so inspired that I wrote this piece to capture what the moment meant. Opinions are not something I often do as I try hard to objectively report soccer news. But I had a feeling that I had just witnessed some history. I think time will prove that I was correct.
